What kind of music do they play, are they any good? I saw a cd today by them, it was listed from 1981, and was re-released, I thought they might be punk? but wasn't sure. Also, couldnt open it to listen to it, as it was a new disc. Anyone here know anything about them?

Los Angeles punk band. Chris Desjardins was the braintrust behind this. He used a lot of L.A. musicians to help out including John Doe and D.J. Bonebreak of X, Phil Alvin and Bill Bateman of The Blasters, Stan Ridgway of Wall Of Voodoo and Steve Berlin of The Blasters and Los Lobos. I think they had three albums. I have some of their stuff that I could post if anyone wants. I have to confirm that these are out of print first


We didn't sell a lot of records, but somehow we left an impression.

Years ago I bought the CD 'A Minute to Pray, A Second to Die', based on rave critic reviews. Unfortunately, the Flesheaters do [b]not[/b] write hummable, harmonic pop songs (unlike many of the bands club80 mentions). Their songs are blistering screeds, definitely an acquired taste. The CD is on my shelf-- I keep thinking I'll pop it in the player and its secrets reveal themselves to me.

I don't mean to diss the band, I just strongly recommend that you listen to them on Amazon or some other service before you plunk down your dollars.

No no, thats fine gang, thanks for your opinions. The guy @ the record store said almost the same thing you did Sally, that I probably wouldnt like it, and that they are an "acquired taste". Nuff for me to pass on it, thanks.

I thought they could be some "hidden gem" of a band that was really good and I had to get the cd? I'm glad that's not the case.

Yeah...Sally is right. Not exactly an easy listen the first time through. This has inspired me to start a thread on bands that fit this category.
