I have an aircheck of 91X San Diego. 91X was one of the great new wave stations of the 80's.
It was recorded August 2nd 1985.

Outstanding upload again Roqqer. Thank you so much. This brings back so many memories of all of the great radio stations in Southern California. I'm sure you have some stuff from 88.7 K-Space and 103.1 Mars FM. Keep it coming!

Unfortunately I don't have K-Space or Mars FM. I have mostly KROQ and a few 91X tapes.I wish I had recorded KNAC 105.5 when they were new wave. Do you remember them?

Yes, KNAC was a great New Wave station before it became a Metal station. [:)] Which other KROQ recordings/DJ's do you have Roqqer?

It's been 15 years since I listened to these old tapes. I don't recall which DJ's are on the them. The tapes are from 1982-1993.
I always avoided morning drive. Too many traffic reports, commercials, and lame comedy bits.
Sean, please send me an email and I'll go into more detail.

Just gave it a listen. Thanks roqqer; that was very cool!!

I went to school up the coast, a little too far for 91X reception. However, when the fog was pea-soup thick, the reception was there!! Listening to new wave on the radio was like a drug!!

TOTAL FLASHBACK ITEM: That bumper sticker contest was won by a friend of mine. He was driving all over SD looking for a job while taking a quarter off from school. Grand prize was a trip to Australia. Maybe I'm thinking of 1986.

Gotta love hearing Phil Collins on alternative radio. At the time, it probably made sense. Now...? [:p]

Thanks for the link. As a bit of a radio geek, I love hearing this stuff.

The only thing missing from this San Diego experience is a carne asada burrito & three rolled tacos with guac from Roberto's.

Juan Grande - hadn't heard that name in 20 years!!

Gracias roqqer.
