What artists created a hallmark recording but then never released another studio album?

First thing I think of is Roxy Music- "Avalon".

Of course, Brian Ferry went on to release solo records and the band still toured.

Maybe Roxy Music couldn't have surpassed "Avalon" but that record showed so much promise, I can't help feeling they left something on the table.
