Does anyone have this system? TEAC GF-650 Retro Style Turntable/CD Recorder Mini Stereo System
Looking for some reviews by any members on the site. I'm thinking about getting it. Most of the reviews I found are positive. Any feedback would be appreciated. thanks.

You'd best steer clear of this type of combo unit.

They are typical of offerings found in those B-brand catalogs and are second rate at best since current Teac brand consumer products have absolutely nothing in common with the storied audiophile component line offerings of the 70's & 80's.

If you are looking for a simple vinyl to CD setup, there are vastly superior <a href="http://www.numark.com/ttusb" target="blank">USB turntables</a> that can plug right into your desktop or laptop.

Couple that with a suitable audio ripping app and you'll be able to make higher quality transfers than with one of those retro styled all in ones.

Ayyymen to that brutha. I got a Pro-ject Xpression MKII with a small phono preamp that includes a USB port. Been successfully digitizing my LPs for a while now via Sound Studio on my Mac.

The total cost of this system (turntable, cartridge, phono pre-amp) was around $730 or thereabouts. I don't know if you wanna spend that kind of money, but you can get less expensive TTs that still have a good audiophile rating. Check out www.needledoctor.com as a place to start.
