Ayyymen to that brutha. I got a Pro-ject Xpression MKII with a small phono preamp that includes a USB port. Been successfully digitizing my LPs for a while now via Sound Studio on my Mac.
The total cost of this system (turntable, cartridge, phono pre-amp) was around $730 or thereabouts. I don't know if you wanna spend that kind of money, but you can get less expensive TTs that still have a good audiophile rating. Check out
