Who was the first group/ artist that you got OBSESSED with back in the day ? The first one whom you heard and went "WOW, "Ive got to find MORE of THAT !", perhaps without even realizing what you were getting into. Maybe even getting their pins, magazines/ books, posters, or other memorabilia. Perhaps even going so far as to start emulating their look or sound ? Hmmmm? Do tell !

As you probably guessed, with me it was Duran in '82. I was convinced I was the only one obsessed with getting their stuff. Hah! What little I knew.... after DD ( well, concurrently I mean) it was Siouxsie. I wanted to be JUST LIKE HER.[:I]

The Clash. I used to make my parents drive me 100 miles to the nearest "real" city to look for their stuff.

The Cars back in the late 70's. At the time I was living in Massachusettes and they were really popular there.

The Cars was also my first NW Obsession, though there were only 2 albums available to buy at the time.

I also remember hearing a song by the local band, The Hooters, in 1980. I loved it and rushed to my local record store, but to no avail. The song,

The first NW band that I was obsessed with was Depeche Mode. I'm on the younger side of NW, so I used to drive my friends crazy with it.

Had to be Devo and The B-52's on Saturday night Live in the late 70's. I was 13 and it was the height of the disco era and was starving for something better. The B's just blew me away and Devo became my new favorite band.
