New Wave Outpost Forum

So going through High School, I came in as a punker from Junior High as that summer of 1978 I went to many a punk parties, in 1981 I changed my tune to a Mod, and when they died out that summer of '83 I switched with everyone else to New Romantic... But went back to Mod in 1984 and progressed to Ska music as a Skinhead and then Scooter Boy.

Still what i enjoy musically; however, was shaped by my time as a NewRo, which exposed me to many different bands along with the constant KROQ listening, I picked up those albums so I wouldn't be stuck in a Northern Soul/Power Pop dimension for the rest of my life... I was not "in" with the popular or "smart" kids (even though I took the AP classes with them) during High School, just our own little scene.

Started out as a New Wave freshman in '82, by my sophomore year I was full-on punk, but never lost my love of the New Wave.

Combination of wallflower nerd semi-goth art fag type.

Brainiac who pissed off teachers by hanging with stoners (although I didn't partake until after I got out of school and went to a Zappa concert).

Yeah okay I was a jock, but I was a New waver too! So I was more of a outcast in the jock world. but no one never mess with me because I would take care of business on the playing field !

I'm with Cadman, I guess I was considered a jock too,played ice hockey and Soccer. In 78-79 Boston Surburbia ,I don't recall anyone being punked out in school. I guess most people didn't know what I was listening to until they climbed into my 75 Lemans.

Nerd trapped in the body of a jock. Isn't that always just the way?

New romantic was pretty much dead and buried by the time I entered high school ('86)... so I closet-listened to it.
