So which is more to your liking? Pre Quite Life before 1979 gutter glam Japan or Post Quite Life after 1979 new romantic Japan?

Absolutely the post-"Quiet Life" NewRo/Experimental Japan.

I know it's terribly obvious but I love "Gentlemen Take Polaroids." Whenever I play it at a party it piques others' interest; it doesn't sound dated or pegged to a particular era.

Wait a min... is this some kind of dyslexic in-joke? The album's title is [i]Quiet Life[/i]. It's almost painful to see the title of one of the greatest New Romantic albums misspelled [xx(]

I hate to break it to you, since it's your username and all, but it's "Quiet" Life, not "Quite".

Anyway, I'd have to go with post, since they were much more YMO inter-related there (influenced by and actually working with), and YMO happens to be one of

Japan is one of my fav.
Definitly post Quite Life.
My fav. Japan album is Tin Drum. A masterpice.

Post and now post Japan ,The solo efforts have been astounding Mick Karn "More, better, different" (his latest)is fantastic, David's "Blemish" isn't his best but very intersesting. Barbieri with Porcupine Tree is a very forward thinking effort. Steve Jans

Hard to choose. Definitely one of my all time favourite bands. My wife's too!!

'Quiet Life' is probably my favourite album of theirs, followed closely by 'Gentlemen take polaroids' and 'Adolescent Sex'
