US Festival Movie

Postby NewWave83 » Sun Apr 12, 2009 8:30 pm

I just watched a documentary about the US Festival that I recorded off the Encore WAM channel. It had performances from INXS, Oingo Boingo, Missing Persons, Men at Work, the Stray Cats, and the Clash. It also had interviews with MTV's Mark Goodman, Men at Work's Colin Hay, and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak (who put up $20 million to put on the US Festival). I enjoyed it. I wish all the performances were released on video. It's going to be shown again on Thursday.

I went to www.usfestivals.com and a dvd will be released sometime in 2009. I saw somewhere on the site (though I can't find it now) that it might be on 3 dvds.

I hope this is true. When I was at Warner Bros, I was told that the rights holder was negotiating with Rhino to release a DVD set similar to the Live Aid sets, but that the rights holder had "unrealistic expectations" as to the value of the content (moneywise). Hopefully everything is sorted out and a DVD will really come soon!

I really wanted to go the US Festival but couldn't go. I've seen snippets and photos of the event and it looks awesome. I really hope this dvd release happens too so at least I'll get to experience on my LCD TV. [:D] Besides NewWave83, who else here went?
