With some disucssion on the Obscure board about Tears for Fears I listened to The Hurting completely through for the first time in probably a decade. I'd forgotten how much I loved this album back in the day. Since many of you have music collections that literally dwarf mine, any classic NW LPs you've listened to recently and thought, "Damn, I'd forgotten how good that is.."

And let me diffuse the obligatory Apart From The Crowd reference, by just saying, "Damn, I'd forgotten how much I needed to forget that" [;)]

Yeah, that first Tears for Fears was simply never lived up to by any album that they did after it.

What I think is one of the most fantastic electronic rock albums of the new wave era is Berlin's Love Life, including the two bonus tracks on the CD (Rumor of Love is sung by John Crawford with Terri Nunn on background, but it's simply a perfect new wave ballad). Terri Nunn is stunningly sexy and steamy in her delivery of every song and they had the perfect production team, including new wave producer extraordinaire Mike Howlett as well as a few tracks produced by Giorgio Moroder.

A couple of months ago I to gave The Hurthing another listen. I still have it in my rotation of music. I had forgotten how good it was.

The Pretenders debut album is one that I like to take out every once in a while and listen from beginning to end. To me it is a seamless mix of hard rock, post-punk and New Wave. Love it.

One of my top 5 fave albums of all time!
