Heard of this band before, but dont know anything about them, are they any good? Care to share some tracks of their work?

They are really good. They aim for the hard synth and hit the target. If you like Devo, you'll like Units. Their later stuff falters, but tracks like Digital Stimulation, etc are good.

the units are among my absolute favorites. not alot of material but great ealty stuff. warm moving bodies is a genius song, the lyrics are brilliant and funny and delivered at a great pace. digital stimulation and high pressure days are great as well. i night is awsome. they have just recently had their first official cd released with all their old singles on it and some previously unreleased stuff. i-5 and straight lines are really good for the previously unreleased stuff. heres their myspace if you want to listen to a few tracks.

though oddly i dont think their best songs or best versions are on here.

The Units are a really (unfortunately) underappreciated band. I absolutely love their earlier output. Sort of a blend of Nervous Gender and Kitchen & The Plastic Spoons. As British said, their later output lacks a bit, but overall, a really great band. I first picked up their single "Warm Moving Bodies (b/w "I-Night)" a few years ago and was an instant fan. Definitely worth checking out.

I was iffy on The Units because at their end they recorded some limp music, but the new CD History Of The Units argues they were more of a prog/Wendy Carlos SF arts thing. I really like it a lot. The CD also has unreleased songs. Their instrumental songs are just as good as the ones with lyrics.

There was a legit compilation cd of Units material available a few years ago. It should be readily available if you check around.

ptooey ruining another thread. What else is new?

Are they planning a "History of the Units: The Later Years"? Because that's the only thing I want from them. Mostly for the unreleased 9-track "Animals They Dream About" album (2 of the tracks were rerecorded for "New Way to Move," but the other 7 have never really been heard) as well as at least 4 tracks done with the Allen twins in 1984 that I imagine were meant for the Epic LP which never happened.
