Niice! (never heard this one before)

FWIW: I remember seeing them play a club gig @Camouflage in Bayside back in '87/'88. Just the two guys and backing tracks. Nonetheless, they were gracious and engaging after the show for the meet & greet and I still have a signed 12" vinyl of 'The Promise' they gave out.[:)]

Yeah, I saw them at the Grenada in Dallas a year or so ago with Flock Of Seagulls. They had an American guy doing vocals, in fact, he was from Carollton, so my wife and I joked that they should be called "When In Carollton". The keyboardist and another guy were two of the original members. Anyway, it was a decent show. They even did a few covers I think.

During one of the million 'who was the last true new wave artist' threads you used to see on here, I recall several people giving credible arguments for When in Rome being one of the last.

Though I was sure I could come up with a dozen logical arguments to that, I never really could - - they were definitely of that 'end of the era' phase.

a couple of tracks from their album hit the mark, but I was overall surprised hwo some of the other tracks sounded after initially being introduced to them by the synthpop perfection of The Promise. Some of their stuff was just late 80s fluff, bordering on freestyle--the long hair image of that one guy in the video didn't help their 'new wave' cred either!

Very Nice. I always thought they had a similar sound to the Pet Shop Boys that was ahead of its time. The Promise truly is a classic. I seem to remember another track from them that got some airplay. What was it called?
