Well we cant say 80s or new wave without mentioning MR. John Hughs..He passed away of an apparent heart attack.So many funny movies..sixteen candles was one of my Favorites from him..Who could forget the Panty scene in the boys bathroom "ahhhhh".All kidding aside RIP..What was your favorite movie from him and scene.

Wow.. what a shame (even more so that he hasn't directed since 1991)

Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Planes Trains & Automobiles were my fave three from him.

Just read this on a daily news site. RIP. very sad. I am much sadder than when MJ died (in fact.. I wasn't sad at all then. Does that make me a bad person?)

Anyway.. Ferris Beuller #1 for me.. closely followed by Breakfast Club. I like them both for different reasons... so I can almost justify them both being number 1.

My favorite line is from Weird Science, where Kelly LeBrock says

"If you ever get the chance, shower with them. I did. Mmm, it's a mindscrambler. Hurts so good."

Aside from his directing, my favorite John Hughes creation would probably be the screenplay for National Lampoon's Vacation. Arguably one of the funniest films ever made.

Tie for all time favorite JH movies(and movies period):

Some Kind Of Wonderful-sooooooooooooooooo many great bands on this soundtrack. One reason why I began to like the March Violets so much.

Weird Science-Hysterically funny throughout.


Pretty In Pink-Probably the best of all the 80s movies. EVERYONE I knew @ the time loved the movie, and could relate to the characters. I doubt you'd find anyone who grew up in the 80s who doesnt know who Duckie is.

Uncle Buck, 16 Candles and Vacation are probably my favorites. And of course, Ferris Beuller is a classic.

To me, it was the little touches that made his movies so vital.

Molly Ringwald sitting in her bedroom listening to Paul Young's "Love of the common people" (note, not something like 'hey mickey', but something a little off the beaten path) in 16 candles.

Duckie listening to "Please please please let me get what I want".

Ferris Bueller looking up at a perfect summer blue sky as "Love Missle F1-11" plays...how could anyone want to go to school that day.

Hughes just had a way of KNOWING.

"Breakfast Club" is my favorite movie of all time (and it helps that my favorite band recorded the theme song.

Too many quotes to choose from. "Face it, you're a neo-maxi-zoom dweebie (not even sure if that is correct). I mean, what would you be doing if you weren't out making yourself a better citizen?"
