New Wave Outpost Forum

I've been looking around and trying very hard to find out which New Wave group from 1982 or around that timeline who did a a cover of the Joey Dee and The Starlighters cover of The Peppermint Twist.I have it on audiotape that a DJ made for me at a Florida club called The New Wave Lounge.I never did find out from him who recorded the song,and I like it much better than the Joey Dee version too.It may have been only available at the time on a 12 inch and no way else,but than again I also could be wrong too.

If anyone knows who did the cover of the song please post and let me know,as I am still dying to get the vinyl copy of the song,and thank you very much.

I take it it's NOT the version by The Sweet you are thinking of?

Most definately not The Sweet version that I was thinking of at all.It was by some unknown band at the time.

I seem to recall Donna Destri doing a smoking version of Peppermint
Twist in the late 70s at Max's Kansas City, with her band Voodoo Shoes;
don't know if she ever recorded it

All I can say and tell you about it is this.It was by either a band or singer that had all around male vocals.No female lead vocalist at all.And it was very synthpop with alot of keyboards in the song.

For all I know it could have been available on a 45 at the time.All I know is that the New Wave version really kicked some butt.
