As I comb through Comsat Angels' lush back catalog, I simply can't believe they almost completely slipped my consciousness back in the day. How could I have been so oblivous to their goodness?? What caused this? Were they not very visible in SoCal? Whatever the case, they are probably the biggest/best act that I am ashamed to have really missed the first time around.

Anyone have this with other bands?

LOL. I had pretty much the anti-Sparks experience you did. We collected everything they did and saw them every few months in concert during the early 80s. We got some scorn for it too since so many people thought they were just fluff. Maybe the perception

It took me almost 15 years to get into the Stranglers and now I can't get enough.

A ton of somewhat obscure bands, but that's the nature of obscure bands.

i can't believe i couldn't get anybody to take me to dallas to see prince for the "purple rain" new year's show in 84. of course, i was only 15 and we lived 10 hours away. but still... ;-)

So True on the Stranglers, how could i have not listened to them back in the days? There are a lot of UK bands I missed out on, but growing up in so cal made up for the UK loss.
