Couldn't catch tonight's airing but I watched a <a href="http://video.pbs.org/video/1372960914/" target="blank">a lengthy & candid interview</a> on the the project with Filmmaker Steven Sebring and Patti Smith talking to music writer Anthony DeCurtis.

I most liked the bit with Sam Shepard, one of my favorite writers and actors. I didn't realize he was linked to Patti in the late 70s, which makes sense given his work with Theatre Genesis at St. Mark's Church in-the-Bowery in the East Village at that time. He's playing banjo here on Patti's recent cover of "Smells Like Teen Spirit"...
