Doug was a guest on my show in 2008 and I'll rerun that interview on Saturday and repost the link to it here next week. I only spent about an hour with him but he was a generous guy to me and a lot of fun to talk with.[:(]

Bruce Gary, The Knack's drummer, also died of cancer back in 2006.

Just read about it in the newspaper.

My back doctor is kind of a geeky guy who is a year younger then me.
In his office a couple of years ago he had a Spin magazine in the waiting room and it was all about 70's and 80's Punk rock in the U.S and U.K. When the doctor comes in I ask him if I can bring the magazine home and finish reading it. He says yes and then tells me this favorite "punk" band is The Knack. His favorite song is "Good Girls Don't". He then proceeds to sing me the song.

So whenever I hear The Knack, I think about this story.

My Sharona became, and still is hideously overplayed IMO.

This is however and of course very sad. RIP. Thankyou for the music!

Great band. My favorite of all time. If you ever saw them live, you'd know just how good they were. If not, you missed something. Very talented musicians and much more than just "My Sharona" and "Good Girls Don't."
