That whiny little pussy has no business trying to sing any of those songs. Keane's covers are even worse than their original material, and that's hard to do.

Anyone looking for a decent cover of "Enjoy The Silence" should check out Phillip Boa & the Voodooclub's version.

I'd love to check out Phillip Boa & the Voodooclub's version if it were available. Apparently the only place one might hear it is if you happen to pass by Phil's basement during rehearsal and his Mom let him leave the door open.

Anyway, I see I'm fighting an uphill battle here. Many people on this forum seem xenophobic when it comes to both covers of their hallowed 80s faves and new bands that have achieved commercial success. Combining the two is just asking for trouble.

Loving the 80s is one thing. Being stuck in the old, cliched mindset of automatically rejecting everything remotely mainstream in order to to be "cool" is as outdated as your Swatch.

It's not surprising that a casual music fan wouldn't know of them, but I'm actually surprised you don't. They've been around for over 25 years and are one of Europe's better known independent bands. Sorry you've missed out on them. [:(]

Let's see what happens when bands start covering Toyah hits.

How about a Phil Boa, Ptoyah, Baltimora, Breakfast Club, Gino Vanelli, Frank Stallone mega concert? They could fill stadiums from Estonia to Kurdistan. And if they stuck to their "hits" you could attend the entire concert and still be home for dinner.

Tom Chaplin definitely doesn't have the voice for The Cult, that's for sure.

With that said, "Somewhere Only We Know" is one of my favorite songs by anybody, and "Spiralling" was better than anything Depeche Mode has farted out in the past 15 years.

If you think I'll stand idly by and let you denigrate the greatness that is Frank Stallone you are sadly mistaken.

At your insistence I did sample some of Phil's music. Nothing really grabbed me but if they ever come up with a song as compelling as "Far From Over", let me know...

I'll go one further. I'm not going to let you stand by and denigrate the greatness of Frank Stallone, Phil Boa, Baltimora, The Breakfast Club AND Gino Vanelli by lumping them in with that other thing.

You're right. He is the cream of the crop when it comes to lesser talented celebrity siblings, absolutely towering above the likes of Don Swayze and Ozzie Canseco.

I also may have been a little harsh on Keane. At least they do shitty covers ... which may or not renew interest in the originals, which is preferable to Coldplay's blatant uncredited ripoffs.
