I know that kimiiii recently brought up a "Did your parents approve?" thread, but what about your siblings? Did any of you have to compete for tapes, stereo time, clothes, hair gel[:I], etc.? Or were their opposite musical tastes a source of friction, altercations, and/or stony silence and hostile glares?

Me: my younger brother was into heavy heavy metal (Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, etc.) In public, he shunned me and my New Wave quirkiness. But at home, I think he was ok with it. We certainly devoured a LOT of early 81-82-83 MTV together, dissecting everything we saw amidst giggles and the 'wow' factor.

None of my 3 brothers or 2 sisters were New Wavers. They all enjoyed different New Wave songs though. I did manage to drag my sister to the Depeche Mode "Some Great Reward" concert in 1984. I made her dress as New Wave as she can.
