OK, am I the only geek here who makes a point of listening to this song every year on this day? I haven't done it every single year since 1986, but quite a few of them, yes.

Cool. I'm gonna start listening to Fourth of July by Galaxie 500, Flashcubes, and X as well.

Completely outside the genre, "September Fifteenth" is an absolutely lovely song by Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays - a tribute to Bill Evans and one of my all-time favorites tracks. I just may start listening to that routinely now. Thanks Surly.

Ok then - I guess that it's now safe to add that I always listen to Wiseblood's "Someone Drowned in My Pool" on the 28th of October.

I play the Go-Betweens' "Bye Bye Pride" every May 24. I play it a lot actually, but I make a point of doing so on May 24.

It's not even that great of a song, but for some reason, I always think "Oh, I should listen to that song today" every year.

I love all the other references here. I'll have to think of more songs with dates in them to listen to!

I stupidly play "Fourth of July" by Galaxie 500 every July 4 and I make it a point to play "She Won't Be Home" by Erasure every Christmas morning, because it is so sad and memorable.

Still looking for my girl with auburn hair and tawny eyes...

In September I listen to a certain Earth Wind & Fire track,
In October I listen to U2's sophomore album,
In November I listen to the November Group,
In December I listen to the Decemberists,
etc.

Yes, that is a beautiful, relaxing new-agey jazz song. Bill Evans died on Sept 15, 1980. I like the Jim Hall / Bill Evans duet album Undercurrents a lot. For example, check out the tune "Romaine". That album surprised a lot of musicians with the level of communication and interplay between those two.

Every New Years' Day I play U2's "New Years' Day". Go figure.

Damn...missed it again! Count me in as well -- as a big Talk Talk fan, I do often think of the song when the date nears.
