Shriekback are super cool

Postby KYYX4ever » Tue Jan 04, 2005 3:28 am

Dark, moody, rumbly, creepy...lots of bass to add to the vibe.....seriously, I found a bunch of old Shriekback--their "Care" and "Tench" material--and I stand in amazement. "Clear Trails" is one of THE COOLEST, albiet creepy, songs EVER!! How could I have forgotten about these gems. "sexthinkone", anyone ? What do the rest of you guys think ? Can I get an amen!?!?

I love shriekback and agree with your analysis of them. I especially love "Lined Up" which I think you included on your cd that you sent to me.[:)]

I have been DYING for Tench and Jam Science to be released on CD. To the best of my knowledge they never were. Suck is one of the best songs ever! and Mothloop. And, oh I could keep doing this until I named nearly every Shriekback song...

Actually all of 'Tench' appeared on 'The Y Records Years' spread over 2 discs, which basically included everything from that period EXCEPT a few alternate mixes, especially the beat-heavy 'Nightwork' from the b-side of 'Working On The Ground' 12". Instead

I'm one of the few people I know who can sing all the lyrics to Nemesis-how many bands got parthenogenesis into a song?

"Shriekback are super cool"

Can't argue with that point. They've long been one of my faves and hopefully a full album's worth of material will see the light of day in '05(all 4 original members played nice long enough to release a very promising mini-l

"Hand on My Heart" is my personal fave. Also like "All Lined Up" and "My Spine is the Bass Line."

What's the best CD?

Great band. Never got their due as far as I am concerned. Nemesis is definitely one of the best songs to dance to in a club; plus a very cool video. Best album a toss up between Oil and Gold and Care.
