Electro/hip hop artist Dirt Nasty (he goes for all out skanky sleazy lyrics--I don't even think they can censor his songs enough to put them on the radio) has a song called "Big In Japan" on his album, and yes, it is indeed an interpretation of the Alphaville classic.
