The only thing that makes me wary of this DVD is that it's put out by "Sexy Intellectual" which is an imprint of Chrome Dreams. They crank out hundreds of these low budget unauthorized DVD's that feature blurry clips taken from television that run less than 30 seconds long so they won't get sued (I have a few of these). I predict it'll be mainly extended interviews with the aforementioned. If you like watching people talk about artists then you'll probably enjoy it. If you're looking for clips or performance footage then you'll be disappointed. I have their DVD's on The Smiths, Syd Barrett, Kate Bush and The Byrds. They're kinda all the same. Not bad but not great either.

there's interviews that go in depth on the foundations of Mainman, the birthplace of what became 'new wave'; that alone will be much more interesting than grainy performance videos from a thousand years ago...

Yes, it could turn out to be one of their better ones. It seems like they got a decent lineup for this one. The Smiths doc had "phantom member" Craig Gannon and John Porter and The Byrds doc had Gene Parsons and John York (bandmembers from the latter half of The Byrds' career). The way they usually put these together is they have a series of interviews with U.K. rock journalists (Malcom Dome is in every dvd) interspersed with clips of the featured guests. Usually they have the full unedited interview with the featured guest as a bonus extra.

Billy Name was also in The Velvet Underground one they put out from a few years ago, along with Moe Tucker and Doug Yule.

there's a great buzz building on the dvd, in the same month that Cherry Vanilla's autobiography "Lick Me" is released, and the Max's Kansas City documentary film is set to hit select theatres;
everything old is nude again...

great book, the definative Mainman book,David and Angie Bowie, Lou Reed, Iggy & The Stooges, Mick Ronson,Mott The Hoople, Wayne County, T.Rex, Cherry Vanilla,Warhol, they're all in there, the foundation of punk, post punk and new wave....there's an amazing amount of interest in this stuff lately....again...
