I'm really confused. Isn't this the "General New Wave AND 80s discussions" forum??? Doesn't that mean people can talk about things that are 80s related even though they might not be new wave?

And I have to be honest, when I first heard the song "The Look" before it became a hit in the U.S., I ran out and bought the record and was assuming WDRE in NY was going to play it, because it sounded to me like most of the so called "new wave" records they were playing in the second half of the 80s. Really, if Roxette had never had a hit pop song after this first single, "The Look" could easily have been considered a new wave one hit wonder.

A post was made about a mediocre band that most find fluffy pop. No problem. Someone posted a "funny" comment. A few people commented on that? No problem. This is an internet forum. Come on man, is this the "got my feelings hurt" Outpost?

Well, all the hurt feelings and nonsense aside...

...I was curious what the new tune sounded like so I watched/listened to it.

Yawn. Pretty dull. Nothing else to say. I was expecting better pop fluff and it just comes across as disappointingly boring.

we're all entitled to our opinions...and for expressing them with smartass pictures of men who have nothing to do with topic at all...but ok I understand some people wanting to be clever...

but just pointing out some facts, at least Roxette wasn't going around and buying their hit songs (or as you call them "fluffy pop") from other established producers/songwriters, like for example Heart, Berlin, and Blondie were doing on occasion. Per Gessle had enough tunes to spread around not only for Roxette, but for his solos and for other artists [:D]

"Nanananananananananananananananananananananananananananananana-na"

.. and still better written that half the songs produced these days

just like with ABBA, some of my most favorite songs from them were not the ones that were the big overplayed hits, but just the album songs [:D]

like for example the marvelous Surrender or Call of the Wild from Pearls of Passion LP, or the haunting Do You Get Excited from Joyride.

Fucking New Years resolution...

Guess I'll have to scrap my plans to start a thread about how other hardcore 80s acts like The Jets, Jermaine Jackson and Rockwell were under-appreciated for their true talent as well. All these haters are crampin' my freedom to express.

Maybe now we can focus on something of true relevance like which David Hasselhoff song was his best and why. I'm leaning towards his awesome cover of "These Boots Are Made For Walking".
