was the band Breakfast Club created before the movie... created with the same name?
a one-hit wonder with Right on Track, but I personally think Never Be the Same and Kiss and Tell should have been hits as well, imo a great slice of 80's disco/freestyle (written by Madonna's early collaborator Stephen Bray)
if anyone cares, just some fluffy 80's dance pop hehhh [:D]

Breakfast Club, the band, were before the movie. At one point, a pre-stardom Madonna was also a drummer/vocalist for the band. There are recordings of this time period. I believe some are on YouTube.

I think there's also some punk tracks from 79-80 that Madonna sang on floating around on YouTube from another project but I can't recall offhand the name of the band she was in or if they were ever actually released.

thank you!
specifically which early tracks?
I also see that discogs lists Patrick Leonard as being a member? Is that a mistake or was he also part of this band? Wiki article does not mention him..

They formed in, like, 1979. Ze Records released their debut single, "Rico Mambo," in 1984. (It was rerecorded for the album.)
I liked all 6 of their singles -- even the 2 covers. I think they were just one of the bands whose label decided to push hard for one single and then didn't care about much afterwards. (Didn't they cut a whole second album that was never released?) Considering they were signed to the Music Cemetery of America, they should consider themselves lucky they even got 1 hit, let alone 2.
