I'm just curious as to where people fall politically on this board and if (at all) their beliefs translate into their musical tastes

Probably somewhere slightly left of centre.
Definitely doesn't translate into my tastes in EIGHTIES music, because I was too young to form serious political opinions or analyse the lyrics I was hearing.

I suppose it wasn't until the 90's that I tended to consciously veer toward bands that were more leftist/British Labour Party in political theme. Bands like Oasis, Pulp etc.

For the most part, if the politics are not being pushed too far on me (country, racist shit etc) If it's good, I'll listen to it.

Being a right wing Canadian still probably makes me a left wing American.

Most artists are left leaning aren't they? Is there even such thing as a right wing new wave band?

It's highly likely when Nazi punks were being told to fuck off, bands like Skrewdriver were being referred to.

I remember reading somewhere that Gary Numan considered himself right-wing (which might explain some of his paranoid lyrics). Also Tony Hadley of Spandau Ballet and Billy Zoom of X have both come out as conservatives (although Zoom declines to talk about it for fear of alienating his fans).

Johnny Ramone (John Cummings) was an unabashed conservative.
