One of my all-time favorites is "Dreiklangsdimensionen" by Rheingold.

This is the original single version:

Followd by a 90's remix (my favorite one):

And once more remixed for the 00's:

By the way, Hubert KaH hit the US Billboard Dance Charts a few times in the late 80s with some English songs. I am looking forward to his new album which is due this year. At least I hope so.

Yeah Rheingold are great, you can definitely hear the krautrock influences there such as Michael Rother, Kraftwerk etc.

I find NDW was always a bit more cheesy than british New Wave, but at the same time more humorous and quirky.

Yes, but you also have to distinguish between the rather original NDW (DAF, Ideal...) that was rather a wave of its own and the commercial (and cheesy) wave that followed.

Münchener Freiheit are great. They also made quite a change from slightly independent to a mixture of schlager and rock/pop. I have all of their CDs but I prefer their releases of the second half of the 80s. Stefan Zauner has a great voice: I was on a concert some years ago and his "live" voice sounds as good as his voice on CDs.

here is another good tune from German singer/songwriter, more of a lite AOR track, but there's a certain angsty New Wave feel to it imho... Peter of course worked with Michael Cretu on Enigma project later on...

Peter Cornelius - Reif für die Insel 1981
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yru_cSO959w

and one more Peter Cornelius -- Segel im Wind
