I think he was born in Brooklyn, but his family moved to the Princeton area when he was a kid. He died in May of 1998 from lung cancer, and I don't even think that he smoked!

The Feelies were my favorite band from NJ in the 80s. They were one of the greatest new wave bands that never made it to the pop charts.
