The Story Of The Cure's "Charlotte Sometimes"

My favourite Cure song of all times is "Charlotte Sometimes". Besides Standing On The Beach, did this song make it onto any of the Cure's albums? For some reason, I don't believe it did. If so, does anyone know the story behind this song. Was this the Cure's equivalent to Depeche Mode's "Get The Balance Right"? The single they release between albums to tie people over. Anyways, anyone know? Also, was this the single right before the Japanese Whispers album?

The song was based on a children's book of the same name.
I have an affinity for bands that would release the occasional non-lp single between full length albums.

The "Japanese Whispers" album was a singles and EP compilation, to cover up that the Cure was only Lol Tolurst and Robert Smith, who was playing guitar for Siouxsie at the time. The Cure wouldn't put out a "regular" album until "The Top."

Actually it was released in Oct 1981. About 6-7 months before the Pornography album.
