Is the "Steve McQueen" album (love it) the same as "Two Wheels Good"?
I know that they had to change the name in the US, but other than that...?

Is the song "Johnny, Johnny" the same as "Goodbye Lucille#1"?

The first five songs on this album are an incredibly strong start: be hard pressed to name any other album with an opening string of such quality_ thank you PS and Thomas Dolby

And are there any cds containing the multiple b-sides of the singles from this album (e.g. Diana, Donna Summer etc)?

In the USA, this album was called 'Two Wheels Good,' after an objection from Steve McQueen's daughter, and the track 'Faron Young' was renamed 'Faron' for similiar reasons. The US version also includes two bonus tracks, 'He'll Have To Go' and 'The Yearning Loins,' the latter of which can now be found on the 'Kings of Rock 'n' Roll' compilation. One version of the release includes a 'Truckin' Mix' of Faron.

Yes, "Goodbye Lucille #1" is the same as "Johnny, Johnny." It's my favorite song of theirs.

"When Love Breaks Down" is different on each album. I prefer the [i]Two Wheels Good[/i] version.

And those bonus tracks are only on the original US CD. I was surprised they didn't end up on the UK reissue from a few years back.

Surly- what do you make of the review of SMcQ where the reviewer states that it is a 2CD version, with Paddy re-recording the songs? Does this really exist?

No.

Even though it bombed as a single in Europe, I always thought "Appetite" was their best song. I guess the Brits related better to hot dogs and jumping frogs.

It seems that "Donna Summer" is on the "Hey Manhattan! cd single, and "Diana" is on the "Protest Songs" cd

Yes, that is the Collector's Edition released by Sony a few years back; first in the UK, then in the US as well. The second disc is Paddy doing acoustic versions of the album, but they were recent recordings, not from back in '85 or anything like that. It's interesting to listen to, but not essential.

I have the 2-CD reissue (originally released in digipak, then in jewel case), and must say it's one of the very few times I've ever recorded rerecorded versions of original songs.

The rerecorded acoustic versions are full and rich sounding, and actually work quite well as a companion disc - unlike the rather dull Cure CD of acoustic versions issued as a bonus with the Greatest Hits several years back.

BTW schwenko, I concur: this is a great album; one of my all time favorites.
