My Best Of The 80s Compilations

I started making this compilations when I discovered 80s music 4 years ago. Since then I've made 25 of them, covering a wide selection of artists and styles(I like varity). Each album represents what I'm listening to at that particular moment. I made these compilations in pairs, with both albums featuring the same artists.
In these albums there are respected artists but also some cheesy stuff, which you sould clasify as "guilty pleasures". I'll start with the last ones so here's the track listing for volumes 24 and 25.
Vol 24
1. Madness- Maybe In Another Life
2. New Order- Young Offender
3. Crowded House- Don't Dream It's Over
4. Split Enz- I Got You
5. Wham!- Wake Me Up
6. Crowded House- Weather With You
7. Split Enz- One Step Ahead
8. The Jam- Going Undeground
9. Culture Club- Do You Really Want To Hurt Me
10. Propaganda- Duel
11. Crowded House- Instinct
12. Split Enz- Shark Attack
13. Depeche Mode- Everything Counts
14. Duran Duran- Wild Boys
15. Crowded House- Chocolate Cake
16. Ultravox- Hymn

Vol 25
1. Madness- If You Think There's Something
2. New Order- Run
3. Crowded House- Something So Strong
4. Split Enz- Six Months In A Leaky Boat
5. Wham!- Careless Whispers
6. Crowded House- Mean To Me
7. Split Enz- Message To My Girl
8. The Jam- Town Called Malice
9. Culture Club- Church Of The Poison Mind
10. Propaganda- P Machinery
11. Crowded House- Distant Sun
12. Depeche Mode- People Are People
13. Duran Duran- Notorious
14. Madness- All I Knew
15. Crowded House- Better Be Home Soon
16. Depeche Mode- New Life

PLEASE COMMENT (I'd love to know your opinions on these albums)

Lotsa good stuff. My principle for putting together compilations is to not have any one bqand repeated on it. I ascribe this to having a short attention span. Also, from doing radio-not repeatign the same artist in an hour. But, that's me.

> My principle for putting together compilations is to not have any one bqand repeated on it.

I've not made any 80s compilations, but when I made cassettes, I limited myself to one track per artist on each side [:)].

When I make compilation CDs now (techno), I still approach it as it were two sides (ie. like a cassette) when choosing the ordering of the tracks.

When I used to do compilations on tape I would put the whole contents of the 7 or 12" onto the tape then carry on from there.

It was the same with CDs up to the advent of affordable MP3 players whose contents used to consist of folders containing albums and singles, something I continue to do to this day.

In addition to this my MP3 player contain folders called 'MP3 Various'
which are a mixture of singles tracks that don't fit in elsewhere and some of my favourite album tracks.

As for your albums, no comment. :)

I have created playlists based on the top KROQ 106.7 songs from 1980-1988 and songs filled inbetween.
I also have one on 12" remixes.

Ah, quite. Think I'll leave the diplomacy to people who are more skilled at it than myself. Like eight6.

I like to use Audiophile to chop a few mp3 files off 20 seconds short of the actual end of the song just to have that retro feeling that I ran out of tape.
