stand up Nik Kershaw (oh you're already standing, sorry) and take a bow.
Yup, scheduled for april is a new album from the lovely Mr Kershaw, which is going to be half old songs and half brand new. coz universal want this to lead onto an album of new new stuff in 2006. seemingly the new songs on the forthcoming cd will be the most commercial since the 'old days'.
i feel a hint of moistness coming on at the prospect

The wife absolutely LOVES Nik Kershaw. Maybe a new NK album will cure her of her current obsession with Freddy Mercury. (Before that, it was Harry Belafonte, and before that it was Annie Lennox, and before that it was Nik Kershaw, and before that it was Bowie, and before that it was Johnny Mathis, and before that . . . .)

Now here is an artist who has been most under appreciated by the (U.S.) masses for his contributions to the genre. Hope he plays a local NY area gig. Welcome Back Mr. Kershaw! [8D]

Wouldn't it be good! I can't wait to hear the new album. I am thrilled that he has made a new album/cd. Has anyone heard his new stuff?

"underappreciated" indeed. More people need to hear "The Riddle" and "Dark Glasses" and "Wide Boy"; also, "Wouldn't It Be Good" is quite enjoyable after so many years!

You've got a cool wife, Eggarooni!

I made the mistake of showing this thread to my cool wife. Now, if NK gets within a time zone of Utah, I gotta get her front row tickets. Gonna cost me $$.
Thats OK, I like Nik. My favorite of his is "Don Quixote".

[/quote]I have everything Nik's ever put out. The new stuff is good in that it shows his skill as a musician and songwriter, but it somehow lacks the appeal of his '80s stuff. Probably just me, as I'm a big synth-head, and he has abandoned them in favor of the acoustic sound (why do all the great synth artists do that, anyway?)

The new stuff is excellent, especially "To Be Frank." Lots of really good tunes on that CD. My wife is also a big fan.

His recent "Fiction" is one of my favorite songs.
Anyone else heard it? I'd be delighted to send and MP3 for a listen.

Wow Its amazing that all theys 80's acts are still going strong and pumping out new material. Of course you will never see this stuff beening played on VH1. They are now even worst than MTV when Its comes to playing music Videos.

We have already seen Limahl trying to do his comeback. Why not give Nik a chance.

Any reviews of this album? The sample on his website sounds pretty decent. [?]
