Have anyone listened to Milk and Cookies?This is the first band of music genius, Ian North,known for his two personal albums in the eighties''my girlfriend's dead'' and ''rape of orchids''.This group was a weird mix of Sparks type glam pop,catchy Ramones-esque guitar riffs and futuristic keyboard sound.They had an album in Island in 1977 and since then North worked with Fast,Velveteen and his second band the Neo.For sure they predated the ''new wave'' sound and had funs amongst others the Talking Heads and Johnny Thunders.Their album is very rare and maybe there's a Japanese cd reissue of it.I'm looking forward to hear them and judging from song titles like ''rabbits make love'' it must be a lot of art pop fun!

I saw Milk & Cookies open for the Ramones once, back in the mid-70s. Don't remember much about them, but I'd love to hear them again.

Milk and Cookies were presented as a ''new wave-punk band ''back in 1977,but their roots were in the glam rock era.Responsible for this thing,was Island's boss Chris Blackwell,who believed the band as a million-selling vehicle,through the power pop hysteria.Imust tell also that their album was first recorded in 1974 and re-recorded at the late 70s with producer Muff Winwood.It's unbeliavable that have played with Ramones ,i'd like to know more about this gig!

ian Nort im alright is a musical genious and underestimated talent is one of my favorite 77 83 singer and songwritter

The first single of Neo issued in the u.k " transister " is a totally Punk 77 83 killed by death classic with great singing and really good guitars parts

The First album is more in power pop vein whith really good songs

The second is more in new wawe style with more synths on but it's also a great records

For Milk'n'cookies the original records are sadly now very rare and hard to find and really expensive in the records collectors circuit but im' hear they have recently a 45 and an Lp' bootlegs in circulation

I own nothing by Milk & Cookies, but I have Ian North's "Neo" lp - - very nice.

I'm hear that in ''neo''lp,played Robin Simon,-ex member of early Ultravox!.Ithink also ,Neo had a song in compilation''Live at the Vortex'',but i'm not sure! bye

"White Garden" and "Sex, Lust, You" are both fantastic songs from Rape of Orchids. Neo and My Girlfriend's Dead are OK but I think Ian really hit his stride on Rape of Orchids. Too bad that was his last gasp.

The Milk N Cookies album has been released onto CD recently and is a great album of Glam pop.As someone posted they have somewhat of an early Sparks sound and style.Another good and rare band to check out is Midge Ure's group Slik pre Ultravox, and they also have a greatest hits collection out on CD.They were also a part of the 70's Glam rock movement.

They were very Bay City Rollers influenced and had the same songwriters who produced alot of their songs.Bill Martin and Phil Coulter were their songwriters.Probably their biggest song and claim to fame was the song Forever And Ever.Slik dressed up in baseball uniforms and got over with that look.Their greatest hits cd is definately worth checking out.I believe that you can still buy it over on CD Universe's website.

great sci fi glam pop with some Punks feeling great disk

Pilon the label that has reissued the Milk N Cookies cd is RPM,they tend to reissue alot of the 70's Glam pop stuff as well as some Punk and New Wave rarities from time to time.

I owe Slik lp from 1976.It's a great piece of atmospheric glammy -bubblegum pop,much more better from what Bay City Rollers at the same period did.Slik perhaps had understood that punk rock movement had come,and wrote a perfect song named'kid's a punk''.After that were transformed to a pure punk band named''PVC2'' and had only a very rare single''Put you on the picture''!It's really worth checking out this band along with Zones, who had a type of connection with Slik.

Milk n cookies first lp now on cd with some unreleased bonus tracks--out on CHERRY RED RECORDS

Wow, I'll have to check these guys out. It sounds interesting. And if it's coming from Ian North, it has to be good.
