This article piqued my curiosity since so many mechanical sound samples can be found in NW and other genres of music.(From the myriad sounds in AoN's 'Closer To The Edit', The car skid and crash in Ledernackens's 'Amok', The memorable helicopter (a Bell 206 2-blader) landing in Pink Floyd's 'Another Brick In The Wall', to the toilet flush of In Deep's 'Last Night A DJ Saved My Life'(And Away Go Troubles Down The Drain..) [;)]
Here's a spur of the moment list of other NW era tunes that have used mechanical sound samples.
Hey OllieStench help me out here! [:0]
Bryan Ferry> Kiss and Tell (Typewriter @Intro)
DM> Behind The Wheel (Car Starting Up)
FGTH> Two Tribes (Haunting Air Raid Siren)
It's Immaterial> Driving Away From Home (Car Starting Up)
Roxy Music> Love Is The Drug (Car Starting Up- an MG or Triumph perhaps?)
Tom Tom Club> Wordy Rappinghood (Typewriter @Intro)
Let's see what we come up with, have at it!

Tight Turn by the Raybeats has a bus crash at the beginning. Surprisingly, you can download this song (for free), and another Raybeats song, Calhoun Surf, at amazon.com. Here's the link:

The sound of the garbage truck in the Cramps' "Garbage Man".
Sound of the English police siren at the start of the Clash's 'White Riot' (similar sound on Scott Wilks and the Walls "Radioactive") - - probably alot of other examples I'm forgetting.
