So how many of you have successfully converted or "turned" some ardent fans of Metal and Country Western to at least appreciating some New Wave Music?

So far my success have been a 60-year-old Texan that works as a oil roustabout. He hated all forms of music that were not C&W and now he's moving and grooving to X.
His fave is their "Dangerhouse" version of Burning House of Love, but he likes the live stuff too. I think I'm going to turn him on to the Dead Kennedy's next.

My other success is a Veterinarian in TN, that thought Aerosmith and Kiss were the only music worth listening to.
She now likes X, The Ramones, Bow Wow Wow and Joy Division. She's almost 30 and NEVER heard of any of these bands before.

Yes indeed Jimbo you have had success. I haven't been able to convert anyone in fact I had a few friends over and I turned the tv to VH1-classics 'We love the 80's' and Art of noise came on "Close to the edit" and my friends laughed me out of the room. Ho

About half a dozen in the last year. And 3 of them have bought iPods to boot so they can hear more of it all the time! I think it was a co-conversion given my relentless attachment to my Pod...and what's mostly on it but New Wave.

You need to find the right groups. I've converted hundreds of people, seriously. Joy Division always works, for some reason. The Cure and the Smiths can go either way, but Joy Division and Echo & the Bunnymen have had the greatest success in my conversion
