It's time again for another edition of the ever popular <B>Name That Tune game. For this game I was inspired by a suggestion by KYYX4ever to creat a thematic game based on a <I>Science Fiction theme. Since New Wave was one of the first musical genres to embrace the technology and electric sounds of synthesizers, the style is often directly associated with futuristic, space, and science fiction themes. With that said, I have to say this was not as easy a task as it first appeared. While a hand full of tracks came to mind almost immediately, finding 25 was a bit of a challenge. Admittedly I had to dig pretty deep into the obscurity files to finish out this game. There are a lot of non-hits and album tracks that never got any airplay that I know of. Because of this, I am fully expecting the scores for this game to be lower than usual. There are quite a few potential stumpers in the mix! In any event I hope everyone will enjoy this journey into the quirky bizarre side of New Wave! <img src="http://home.comcast.net/~fritzb1/alien2.gif">

As with previous games, all of the tracks are the standard single or album versions, except for the very last song (#25), which is an Extended 12" Mix. [8D]

As usual there are a total of 25 songs clips. The game is on a 100 points basis (2 point for artist, 2 point for title). Partial credit will be given for responses that are "close" to correct. There are 2 seconds of silence between song clips. Download your response form below and email it to me for tabulation when you're finished (my email address is on the form). Make sure to put your forum screen names on your answers, so I know who you are. I will send the Answer Sheet to everyone who sends me their responses (if you don't hear from me within 24 hours, I probably didn't get your email). Don't post your responses here!

Here's the link for the response form (my email address is on it):

The game will end on <font color="red"><B>Friday April 15 at 4PM EDT</font>.

Good Luck! [:)]

I guess my contribution is in helping to bring the average down. Many of those songs, sound quite good. Unfortunately, I don't most of the second half. And I'm ashamed to say, I do know the last one.

Most of the earlybirds are doing a bit better than I feared on this one, though I still think quite a few of the later tracks may remain stumpers for the duration. Some of the songs are really quite obscure.

There are some truicky ones here. Some of them I keep thinking I know that song but can't think of who does it, or vice-versa. Oh well.

I didn't hear "Codo" by the DOF. I've always liked that one.

<B>Midgame Update

This is shaping up to be quite a tough game with more than the usual number of obscure songs. I've only received a hand full of responses so far. I guess most of you are going to take your time and mull this one over a bit. [:I]

Yowza! That kicked my butt.
My inner sci-fi geek thought I'd do much better than that.[:I]
Although I must say: "what? No Gary Numan? The father of sci-fi futuristic, robotic, machine-made, mechanical geek rock?" Hmph!!!

Another quick update...

With a bunch more responses trickling in, the average score is dropping. It currently stands at 44 points. Nobody has put a dent in the 5 remaining stumpers (#20, #21, #22, #23, #24) and #18 still needs a correct artist. [:I]
