FINALLY the Boston area is feeling a little warm, the canadian geese are migrating back up north, the crocuses are blooming, the playgrounds are packed, and I'm skipping out on taking the T (that's the Boston's subway) in favor of walking all over the city.

Spring is finally here, and I've been listening to Icicle Work's "Chop the Tree" on a loop. Sure it references autumn, but it always felt like a springtime-type of song ("who will help us / through these cold years / could I glimpse a rising sun?")

Anybody else got favorites that reference nature, springtime, the weather, or anything else that feels appropriate for this time of year?

It's Spring here in Fialta and I'm thinking of spreading Flowers of Romance to help my Public Image. Ah, Love is the Drug...though it sometimes Tears Us Apart. [:D]

Lately here in NY this is an in between season of cold rainy days which brings to mind 'Like The Weather' 10K Maniacs.

Happy Hour Again from the Housemartins. There was a great German bar that had an outdoor beer garden that opened in the spring. We'd always play this the day it opened...and then usually every day we went there for the rest of the summer...sor tof a call

Of course, here in the Pacific Northwest it's more like "Here Comes the Rain Again" or "Rainy Season."

What you need is "ambient New Wave" like Haircut 100 and Vini Reilly. You pop in any of their albums and they're upbeat in the right amounts. Usually better for the summers days and nights, they also work in spring. Try "Lemon Firebrigade" by Haircut 100

There's always Talk Talk's The Colour Of Spring although it always seemed more like an autumn type of record to me. Your mileage may vary.

It's really not about the weather but there's "Spring Collection" by The Vapors.

I associate a lot of songs with the time they came out and the first time I heard them or where I heard them (for most, at the open mall of my college campus where we would regularly blast our boom boxes):

"Town Called Malice" - The Jam

It's not new wave, but I always play reggae at the start of spring, as I open my storm windows to air out the staleness of winter.
