Not a completely terrible album by any means, but too drastic a change in style from the brilliant "The Lexicon of Love."

TRB II...Power in the Darkness was brilliant...add Todd Rundgren to the mix and you get a mostly whiny overproduced disc that ultimately broke up Tom Robinson and Danny Kustow...

After the New Romantic classic <I>Rio[/i], this just didn't cut it... [V]

Haircut 100 - [i]Paint and Paint[/i] (without Nick Heyward, they weren't the same)

I agree with "Liverpool" by Frankie Goes to Hollywood". This album can be found by the thousands in EVERY second-hand record shop.

Candy-o by Cars--great lp but does not compare to their first effort.
DEVO'S second lp--thought it was ultra lame.

The Stone Roses "Second Coming". That was like taking everything I liked about that band and pissing on it.

Does follow-up mean that it was the record released after the previous record? Does it have to be the artist's 2nd release? Can there be a follow up to a third or fourth album? These posts are getting really hard to understand.

Anyway...

The Knack - "...But the Little Girls Understand" - Maybe one good song?
Pretenders II - 1st album - one great song after another. 2nd - 2 or 3 good songs.
Marshall Crenshaw - "Field Day" - Great songs - lousy production from Steve Lillywhite

XTC- "Mummer" in '83 was mucho lame-o after "English Settlement"

Many good examples already mentioned. I'd add the second albums by Belouis Some, General Public, The Colourfield, Real Life, and Bronski Beat.

"Fire Me Up" by Roman Holliday (is that the correct title?)

Very good topic. All I can think of right now was Cyndi Lauper's follow up to "True Colors." It was so bad, I don't even remember what it was called. A lot of ones I could mention from the 80s but they are so not at all new wave that I won't.

fritzb mentioned Duran's [i]Seven and the Ragged Tiger[/i], but for me,(I liked [i]Seven[/i]), it was their album AFTER [i]Seven[/i]--[i]Notorious[/i]. They took on a completely different sound and I didn't like it.

I dunno...
for some reason... I thought Seven and the Ragged Tiger was some of their best work.

I take the dice was such a wonderful song.
