Inspired by Temple's top 50 list, I made a quick top 100 of pre-MTV songs (no way I could cut it to 50!). These are my favs from mid-1981 and earlier, perhaps before new wave entered into the broader consciousness. What am I missing? What isn't deserved? They're in approximate order (I reserve the right to change the list the next minute and every minute thereafter):
