I'm considering getting one of AFOS's cds and unsure which to get. I want to start with a greatest hits first but there's two or three of these. One is an early 90s 'best of' and another is a 'platinum' one and I think another that is just a 'greatest hits.'

Which would be the better choice of the three? I think the 'best of' has an extended version of "Wishing I Had A Photograph Of You" but the 'platinum' one is more readily available in shops. Are they comparable in terms of sound quality and digital remastering? Quality song selection?

What do you suggest? [?]

Whatever you do, stay away from anything thats on Cleopatra. These are re-recordings!



The ones you want will be on BMG/Arista/Jive. I'd recommend the best of one, but the Platinum CD will at least whet your appetite....

Get their first album..I think it's their best one then follow up with Their second album "LISTEN".

I'm with edison, get the first self titled album first, most of their good stuff is on their. Followed by Listen, and then you're on your own. [:D]

I'd agree with the above, but if you can lay your hands on a copy of The Story of a Young Heart, I'd do so. It's somewhat different from the previous two albums, and actually is depressing as hell. It's actualy my favorite AFOS album

"The more you live, the more you love" is one of my favs.

That song is one of my faves, too, edison. All comments were duly noted and I'm appreciative of them. Haven't got round to buying anything of theirs yet.

IMO, you will miss some of AFOS very best material by having only a best of. As is the usual case, many times a best of compilation will sorely overlook the best tracks a band recorded on their regular releases. Start with a best of it that is better for

I would get them chronologically. The first album is the best but the second album "Listen" is right up there too. The third album is not too bad but I really haven't gotten into any of the stuff after that.
