Here it is, the top vote getters from the two 80s cult movie polls plus a couple of write-ins. "Cult" here means either a cult classic or even a popular movie with a cult following. I was a little disapointed that not more truly cult films were elected, but these are "favorites" not "best". What's your personal favorite among these?

They're all excellent. I was most torn between Blade Runner and Valley Girl. I went with the latter because of the soundtrack and this being a New Wave site and what not[:p]

I was torn between Bladerunner and Ferris Bueller. Since Bladerunner is my top all time movie -bar none- I had to vote for that flick.

If I were voting merely on soundrack, I would have gone for Ferris.

Ditto on the tough choice here between a fav cult movie and fav new wave movie, but now I know where to round up attendees for the next Blade Runner revival!

BTW, should I assume that voting is over and declare Blade Runner the winner? It's so close! Any last takers?

Too tough because i love some kind of wonderful. That soundtrack rawks. The March Violets are cool. Fast Times is another great one. You forgot "cant buy me love" too.[:(!]

Hey, this old poll is still open! And it's still tied!

On a related note to Blade Runner fans, I just realized there's a couple of folks (now 3 including me) sharing one of the rarest and best versions of the Blade Runner sountrack on the Hub. I figured out it's from a year-2000, numbered, limited edition bootleg (less than 500 copies) usually known as "The Definitive Edition - 2000 Off World Music". It's 3 CDs in it's entirety but the Hub only contains the first 2, which is fine since the 3rd was just a reworking of the crappy orchestral score that came out prior to the Vangelis one. The 2 CDs run 131 minutes long (!) and contain lots of music that fans will instantly recognize.

Anyway, this is reputed to have the best sound quality of all the boots, likely derived from a dialog-free original underscore of the movie. Complete underscores are often sent to foreign countries for dialog over-dubbing. One source says there are sound effects cues from the Leon VK testing scene that does not appear on any of the other boots and is likely pulled from the mythical original "work-print" version of the movie. Ridley Scott is rumored to be working this version into another "director's cut". Fascinating must-have stuff for Blade Runner fans!...and eye-rolling fodder for those not so maniacal. [:I]

I love "Raising Arizona" simply because of Frances McDormand. I had to replay the scene where she meets the bay for the first time because I was laughing so dang hard.

That is definately one of the few movies that is so funny, it physically hurts to watch. "Son, you got a panty on your head."

But alas, the poll is closed...and Blade Runner is declared winner! It's cult fav status must have surpassed even the new wave greatness of Ferris and Valley Girl...or the latter split the new wave votes.

What about "Repo Man?" Or was that from 1979? I don't know what it was about that film that I liked but it was one of my faves.

It got voted off in the prelims. It's a personal fav as well, especially with the members of hte Untouchables and theri scooters in it. I took the top 3 each from a music and non-music poll plus a couple of write-ins and thus this final.

No doubt about it DGJ and Blir, Repo Man was great. Harry Dean Stanton? Count me IN!

I guess I'm the only hopeless romantic who voted for Some Kind Of Wonderful? I feel so ashamed [:I]

All those movies are great and I probably like most choices above the one I voted for, but I'd like to think that I dream in New Wave colours and that would only look like the neon from [i]Liquid Sky[/i]. I tend to repeat myself on this topic by saying that it was the first dvd I bought even before I had a dvd player[8D]
