Nouvelle Vague

I got this new CD at work last week in a huge box of mostly crap. (See Christian Rap discussion! It's real! Terrifyingly real!) So I didn't dig through it all until this morning when I stumbled on the Nouvelle Vague CD. It's all bossa nova versions of new wave songs!

HEAVEN!!!

Seriously, check this disc out. Their version of Tuxedomoon's "In a Manner of Speaking" is stunning.

Sounds pretty cool to me, looks like amazon is the best bet I've found so far, gotta get that one. Have you heard the Nutley Brass? They do instrumental lounge covers of Ramones songs. Pretty groovy stuff.

I am so getting this! When a tune is stripped down in this manner I find I can gain a new appreciation for lyrics or melody. "Love Will Tear Us Apart" is fab.

(And then there's Lounge Against the Machine . . . "
