New Order - Best Song? I Need Your Help

Postby Arcadia » Fri May 06, 2005 4:41 pm

I'm kinda' new to New Wave, but after visiting this hub for a few weeks now, I know that New Order is the king of New Wave. What is their best song? I just saw them in California, and they closed with an encore of Don't Forget Me When I'm Gone, which is now my favorite by far! What album did that come off of?, because I have both of their full length albums. Was it a single?

Thanks, can't wait for your input!

How about "none of the above"? Not intended to insult or demean your New Order intelligence buy there are so many better songs from this pioneering group than you listed. Of the ones you did list I would have to choose "Ceremony" or "Perfect Kiss" but I r

To me, New Order in the 90's+ just doesn't compare to their output in the 80's, but it's interesting that someone might get into them the other way around....

If you'd like a good starting point for the 'classic' 80's stuff, I'd go with Substance, alth

Ditto that I can't vote off this list but not because it's invalid in any way - hey, it's your list. But given their long history, New Order tends to be pretty personal to many people and affects them in different ways. To me "Dreams Never End" is their t

I'll have to go off the board too with my vote going to Love Vigilantes.

Runners-up: Bizarre Love Triangle & Blue Monday.

Agree about New Order though - definately the kings of club music.

I picked Ceremony, but my heart goes to Temptation, the older version (not on the list).

And I've always loved Mesh deeply, but it's not as memorable as the others.

uh, let's see...

Your question is what is their best song?

You've got "both of their full length albums" but you list songs off of many different albums.

You don't include "Blue Monday" or "Temptation" or "Bizarre Love Triangle" but include a U2

Wow, I figured I might get some grief here, being new and all, but there has been more non-voters than voters! Every forum has their elitists though, so that's to be expected I guess. People seem to like Grayson's list better, but I just don't agree. Most

How can anything be the "Best" when it comes to music.

What's the standard of measurement?

Best = record they sold the most of - 12" Blue Monday
Best = song most # of people know - Bizarre Love Triangle
Best = ?

My personal favorites, for many
