I have fallen head over heals in love with this band over the past month or so... am I alone here?
Okay, it's not New Wave - but they touch on so many genres (NW included) and still keep a totally unique perspective: The Beatles, ELO, ABBA, Buggles, The Who, Elvis Costello.... the list goes on and on. Yep, they're 'Big in Japan' and here in North America (where they're currently touring [at least I think they still are!]) the fan-base is building - thanks to The Cartoon Network: they perform the theme song for 'Teen Titans' and also have their own animated show to boot!
Hey, to explain the impact these girls have made on me let me, put it this way: I received the latest Cure remasters from The Ideal Copy as soon as they were released (I'd ordered them back in early March)... they are still in the cellophane they arrived in (and I've been a huge Cure fan for 25 years).

They are TRULY amazing! Just about the catchiest Pop Rock around. Their current CD is sort of a "greatest hits" compiled of tracks from 1996 to 2004. It's well worth picking up.

Hahahah! I just realized they sing the Teen Titans theme that my kids are CRAZY about (that show is pretty intelligent BTW). I'm gonna have to check em out...I might score big points with the kiddies besides liking it myself.

Their prime audience is 10-12 year olds. Well, we're all young at heart in here.

Have fun going to their concerts this summer.

Okay, I just sampled some Puffy for my kids, 7,8, and 11. Not the reaction I expected: "Oh my god, that's HORRIBLE!!!" I guess they like the cartoon better than the musicians. My eldest says they sound like the Chipmunks on too much caffeine. I kinda have

I'm a big fan! I've seen them in concert 2 times now (Irving Plaza 2 years ago, Webster Hall, last year). They were on Jimmey Kimmel the night after New Order was on. Very melodic; funny that IM He was talking about Cure cds that he ignored, since one of

I remember recommending this to a guy who was just getting into J-Pop way back when their albums were being sold at Kinokuniya Bookstores[:D] I can't believe how far they've come along to have their own show, their own bona fide American audience, and dom

It's wierd to hear this term "J-Pop" because the Puffy AmiYummi CD "Nice" from 2003 sounds like classic late 60's American bubblegum to me....and they alternate between singing in English and Japanese. The song "Your Love Is A Drug" might be the ultimate

My son has been all over me to get tickets. So I did. I get to sit thru the Puffy AmiYumi concert in Somerville, MA in August. At least the tickets were cheap ($19/each plus postage/handling).
