Silly question: could "new wave" have really existed from 1969 through 2001? Probably not. But how about all that good proto-punk and glam to modern alterno-electro-pop that lies just a degree of separation away? I say toss out those narrow definitions of new wave for just once and embrace this ultra-wide 33-year interpretation - one song for every aforementioned year. Now, this should have some interesting demographics! Same rules as before. Email me the results at myirwin@comcastDOTnet (DOT replaced by "." of course).

There ARE some lyrics, but it would be pretty tough otherwise AND you don't have to look them up. Anyway, the point of this one isn't so much a contest but hopefully a cool walk down memory lane. Also note that all of these bands have been mentioned in various "other music besides new wave" or "godfathers of new wave" type threads, so we're not veering too far off base. Good luck!

A most excellent NTT Michael. Thanks very much. I got my answers bounced back to me with an unknown user error when I sent them to comcast.com, I resent to comcast.net and all seems well so far. Quite the walk down memory lane and I can't wait to find out

Yikes, you're right...comcastDOTnet!

BTW, you're starting to set a trend. Grayson is once again our standard bearer with an excellent 48 out of 66...clearly a man of all seasons.

Well MikeP chimed in to blow the curve - 57 out of 66. Shocking, I know. But come on, I know there's old-schoolers out there that can knock him off the perch. Henso, Schwenko, Dave, Ollie, Otters, Swamp, Jason! Where are ya?!

Only 1971, 1980, and 1998

Is it just me that is confused, but I seem to have an extra song. I think it's in between 1974 and 1975. It's only 2 seconds long.[?]

The car sounds and the subsequent vocoder clip are part of the same song.

Well that shows what I know. I should be able to do my part, in bringing the curve down.[:I]

Major developments this evening! If this were CNN, they'd have to make up a dramatic intro jingle and bold signage like "Election 2000" or "Crisis in Peoria". Instead we've got "Breakthrough: NTT6" (for a jingle, think "68 Guns" or "Police On My Back" - o

Well, that was hard. All of these damn NTT's are hard for me. You guys must have monster record collections and long commutes to get such high scores. I barely get a third of the possible score every time. Having said that, I sure enjoy these things,

But Wiota, you knocked off the last of the unanswered songs, 1980. Good job.

Last call for the NTT6. Any stragglers out there before the Sunday 5pm EST end date? Will post results that night. Thanks to all who're playing.
