New Wave Outpost Forum

Anybody wanna help me out here? On my radio show, I try to mix the obscure old NW with some of the more popular trax from the era (take a look at this week's playlist for the 1982 hour on "That Modern Rock Show" and you'll see what I mean). Trouble is, this always seems to dissapoint a lot of people. Folks who want the hits send me e-mails complaining about the mix. Actually, I don't think I even get THAT obscure. Am I out of my mind on this one? Would'nt you want to hear the more obscure stuff too? You guys are the experts (moreso than I am) so I'm bringing it to the table.

BTW: Just a piece of arcana from the show, almost all of the requests are for songs from 1979-1982, just prior to NW crossing over into the mainstream. Man, I'm really confused!

I agree completely with Blir on this. Go with the minor hits or at least songs that <I>should[/i] have been hits. If you do play something "obscure", make sure it has a great hook. You can never go wrong with a great hook. [;)]
