Never seen a thread about this, my apologies if there ever was one...

We all know CD's usually have bonus tracks as opposed to the LP/tape releases. But how many times have certain things been left OFF of the CD release? There are a few I can think of:

1. The original LP "Rio" by Duran Duran had extended versions of about five of the ten songs (Hungry Like The Wolf, Hold Back The Rain and Save A Prayer to name a few). This version of the album has never been released on CD (even the later version of the LP left the extended versions off).

2. At the end of Oingo Boingo's "Weird Science" LP (from Dead Man's Party) there's a little bit at the end where they put in Kelly LeBrock's quote "So...what would you little maniacs like to do first?" This was left off the CD, probably for licensing reasons I'd imagine.

3. This is one of my favorites. On the Wham! LP "Fantastic", the last song "Young Guns (Go For It!)" ends ... wait a few seconds, then you hear somebody playing piano at light speed (kind of a ragtime thing). This goes on for about 10 seconds, then you hear the sound of the guy being punched in the gut. He moans for a few seconds, then starts playing again, but playing much slower and groaning while he's doing it. It's hilarious and was left off the CD.

4. Here's something that annoyed me to no end. The original CD of Icehouse's "Man of Colours" was the same as the LP but with a few bonus tracks. When it was remastered about two years ago, it had even more bonus tracks...except they shortened one of the album tracks, and it was my all-time favorite Icehouse song "Crazy". The version on the remastered CD was the single mix which omitted about 1:30 of the song. D'oh! I kept my original CD around for that song only.

The Altered Images "Bite" CD comes to mind: the remastered edition by Edsel had some stupidly, sleepy version of "Another Lost Look" in place of the LP edition. Apparently, though, Sony Japan released another edition of the CD (with the LP version of the

When the Cure's "Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me" double LP was brought to CD, "Hey, You!!!" was eliminated so that it would fit on a single CD. That's one track I had no ethical qualms about "illegally" downloading.

Colourbox's first was a double LP that got converted to a single CD. When I got the CD, I gave the LP away, before I realized this. [:(!] Does anyone know which tracks they were?

Not really New Wave but when Duncan Browne's "Wild Places" and "Streets of Fire" came out as a double-CD, they left off the song "Cancion de Cuna: Street Echoes," which was the pleasant closing number on "Streets of Fire."
