Are you listening, record companies? Here are some artists whose catalogs should be remastered and reissued:

1. a-ha - their first couple albums "Hunting High And Low" and "Scoundrel Days" could use a remaster, and there are tons of remixes from that era that could be included (along with their great B-side "Driftwood").

2. Midnight Oil - Their early albums sounds HORRIBLE on CD - like they were mastered from bad cassettes. Everything prior to "Diesel And Dust" needs help (and even that one would be nice if it included some of the remixes from that album).

3. Nik Kershaw - Mostly because he's had so many B-sides. Everything prior to "15 Minutes" could sound better. Many of the B-sides were on a great collection that came out a few years ago, but some have never seen CD.

4. Kate Bush - Actually I hear these are in the works. But hurry, dammit!

5. Alphaville - Their first two discs could sound a lot better

That's all I've got for now. Anyone else?

I've never seen the word "hurry" and Kate Bush in the same sentence. [:)]
I'm told the British versions of her CDs that were included in the box set sound better than the American versions but I've never made the comparison.

Yeah, Kate Bush puts out music almost as often as Boston [:D]

If you're referring to the This Woman's Work box set, I have it. I didn't notice any difference to that vs. the other CD's, but if they were manufactured later then there probably is a small difference. I heard they were going to give the "Hounds Of Love" treatment to her other discs (HOL came out remasterd with bonus tracks) but they're taking their sweet time about it...

oh man, I really wanna say Corey Hart but that would just be going for the cheap laugh...so I'll say the Adverts since I can't find anything by them anyplace but on the hub...

I wish that everything rare and unreeleased would jsut magically appaer on CD.

My choices:: G.E. Smith, Starpoint (I know, not NW but essential R&B artist nonetheless), Flash and the Pan, Lena Lovich, Payola$, The Flirts, Translator, The Rave Ups.

I really like old R&B.

I'm gonna vote once again for U2, but the one I'm really waiting for is that Eurythmics catalog remaster that's been on the shelf for two or three years now. Sweet Dreams was the second or third CD I ever bought and I started buying them in, like, 1985!

Other than that -- DEVO, definitely. Kate Bush would be nice, as the box set is fifteen years old this year and different releases used different masters so they're not consistent. I'd also like to see a comprehensive version of [i]The Golden Age Of Wireless[/i] with all the alternate tracks from the various configurations included...

I would love to see:


Real Life

Red Rockers

Human League (the rest of them)

Siouxsie & The Banshees (on their way)

Thomas Dolby (The Flat Earth, especially)

Kate Bush (of course)

and PRINCE!!!

ARGH! I've never heard of Driftwood!

But I completely agree w/ you, the first 3 a-ha albums could definitely use remaster treatment. Especially Scoundrel Days, which is (in my opinion) their best work. With the possible exception of East of the Sun, West of the Moon.

But yeah... remasters are good. I hope it happens.
