I know I've seen this type of thing addressed in other threads, but I almost fell out of my chair on this one. I absolutely cannot believe that Ore-Ida french fries has picked up "Golden Brown" by the Stranglers for its commercials. At least it didn't sound like the Stranglers doing it. Does this kind of thing surprise anyone anymore?

I guess a song about heroin is better than a song about cannibalism.[:p]

Then again, Norwegian cruise lines was using Iggy Pop's "Lust for Life" a song of idleness, drug and alcohol abuse, sexual experimentation with transvestites and general debaucher

Like minded I suppose. It really is all disturbing but the greatest travesty to me still is Burger king's use of Modern English's "I Melt With You" to hawk cheeseburgers...[:(!]

And how about The La's "There She Goes" (sung by Sixpence None The Richer) another song about heroin that is being used in that commercial for birth control? Also, what does this imply? There she goes again - having sex? How edgy. How daring.

What's even funnier is the usage of Judas Priest's "you got another thing coming" for BK as well.

So that's who did that song. I was away from the TV, heard some familiar song then the mentioned "ore-ida" and was a bit perplexed.

It's not the first time a Stranglers song has been used in a TV commercial. A couple years ago, some sneaker company used "Peaches" in an ad. What connection is there between running shoes and "Peaches"?[?]

Hey, I remember a few months ago seeing an ad for some car; and they were playing the Velvet Underground's "Heroin" in the background!!
