Yesterday at my local music store I found a used copy of Lotus Eaters - First Picture of You: the BBC Sessions. Not being very familiar with Lotus Eaters, I didn't buy it. Now I'm having second thoughts. Should I go back and buy it or instead should I try to find one of their regularly released albums for my first purchase?

I agree w/ Schwenko, "It Hurts" is a fine song. I also recommend "German Girl" and "Set Me Apart".

Manek, my favorites include "It Hurts" and "German Girl". I'll send you these 2 songs shortly by e-mail so you'll get an idea and decide for yourself.

The only song I think I know by these guys is "When You Look At Boys", which is a BEAUTIFUL, lovely song. I never knew if it was typical of their sound or not.

The Lotus Eaters is a great group. I'd collect anything by them. IIRC, they recently released a new album.

Ack! I should have bought the CD when I first saw it! It's all a moot point now, because when I went back to the music store, the CD was gone! Looks like someone else in my area has good taste in music.
Thanks, everyone, for your recommendations and song files. I really appreciate it! [:D]

I've been a Lotus Eaters fan for 20 years now. They were one of the most popular U.K. imports in the Philippines. When you ask most Filipinos about '80s New Wave artists, the Lotus Eaters will most likely be brought up. The Lotus Eaters' singer Peter Coyle has been a good friend of mine for several years, and I signed him to the label I once worked for, Know-It-All Records. You can still order his U.S. debut "Reach for the Sun" for a cheap price:

Here are some of the articles & reviews I've written about the Lotus Eaters - use them as a consumer guide:

The Lotus Eaters paved the way for acoustic-flavored New Wave-inspired groups such as Coldplay, Keane, and Travis. Keane, in particular, completely ripped off the Lotus Eaters, in my opinion.

Wow! Thanks for all the information, knowitallrecs. Funny that I didn't even hear of Lotus Eaters until I started hanging out at NWO.
