I haven't seen this as of yet compiled anywhere on the net. I was watching my favorite FAB 4 last night when I saw Amazulu do "Moonlight Romance"...and it got me thinking about puttling together a CD-R mix of these songs for myself. I am amazed at the folks over at the BBC never did (at least I have never seen one being offered). Anyway some of this I got but most I don't so this will be my summer (and possible fall and winter) project. Please feel free to corrrect me or if you have any leads on where I can find the hard to get ones please advise. Well here it is....in order:

(1) Nine Below Zero - I believe the song is "eleven plus eleven"

(2) Alexi Sayle (cast member) - "Dr. Marteen's Shoes"

(3) Madness - "House of Fun" and "Our House"

(4) Dexy's Midnight Runners - "Jackie Wilson"

(5) Rip, Rig and Panic - "You're My Kind of Climate"

(6) Motorhead - "Ace of Spades"

(7) Jools Holland, Glen Tilbrook and Stewart Copeland - "Subterranean Homesick Blues"

(8) The Damned - "Video Nasty"

(9) John Otway - Body Talk

I would have been willing to buy a Young Ones soundtrack, had they released it. Heck, they made soundtracks for everything else.

Weird, I caught most of the "video nasty" episode on BBC America last weekend, and thought to myself "Wow, a buncha goths from the early 80s".

I turn to radio80s yesterday, and wouldn't you know it, the video nasty song is playing. I had no idea it was The Damned.

I thought "Jackie Wilson" by DMR was 100 times better than the overplayed "Come on eileen".

I agree "Jackie Wilson" was so much better in light of "Come on Eileen" being overplayed! Typcial US TOP 40 crap...play the one hit and never bother with anything else by the band. Amazing that these guys make it to those "one hit wonder" weekends on US radio stations!

I am amazed that there was no further comment on this post???? Did I become the post killer of the month? I mean we are not even in July yet.........

I'll help you out Nero - - I loved the Young Ones. Your list looks about right as I remember it. Alexi Sayle doing "Dr. Martin's" was great. I thought maybe Madness did two appearances but it's hard to remember....

If you go way back in the past, there's been a couple young ones threads here; I remember starting one a long time ago....

The Motorhead episode, where they appear on University Challenge is one of my favorites. I remember an episode where Buddy Holly is hanging upside down from their celing (from the plane crash probably) and sings a song called "coo coo daddy long legs".....

Now I want to go back and watch my vhs tapes. That show was on LATE on sunday nights, back when I didn't have to be at work early monday morning.

The guys who play Vivian, Neil and Rick did a movie called "Bad News" about an early 80's hair metal band (called Bad News) that was pretty funny. Kind of like Spinal Tap. You'll get a kick out of it if you see it.

I remember that! I also seem to remember the Belle Stars (almost the same band) doing World Domination.

I own the Amazulu LP. I used to have the Belle Stars. I don't currently own a turntable though!

Wow! Neneh Cherry on the Young Ones! I either missed that, or most likely of course had no idea who Rip, Rig and Panic were. I do have Rip, Rig and Panic and Float Up CP on cassette...

I wasn't aware they are showing it stateside! I used to love that show... have to look for it.

You are right...madness did two episodes...I added Our House to the list.

Madness did make two appearances on the Young Ones. They appaered in both "Boring" and "Sick"

I am a HUGE fan of the Young Ones! I used to drive everyone insane by always quoting from it. I bought the box set recently - had to because all my old copied VHS tapes were becoming a bit hard to watch.
All those great references to Bow Wow Wow, Adam Ant, Sham 69, and the Human League! Very funny. Plus the great guest appearances by Jennifer Saunders, Emma Thompson, Robbie Coltrane, Dawn French, Stephen Fry, Tony Robinson, and Jools Holland.

Also, does anyone remember the video they did with Cliff Richard - "Living Doll"? And neil's solo video for "Hole in My Shoe"? Really hilarious.[:D]

i loved the Young Ones, but haven't seen it in years. I didn't realize it was out on DVD until recently - - i'll probably pick it up eventually.

Somehow I managed to download the video to "Living Doll". Nice of Cliff to put up with the Young Ones cast to make that.
